Investor Calls for Justice Amid Allegations of Massive Fraud by YY Capital Chairman
(Phnom Penh) – A shareholder of YY Capital Partners Co., Ltd. has formally requested the Ministry of Justice of Cambodia to step in after serious allegations surfaced against Yamada Taihei, the company’s Chairman, accusing him of breach of trust and financial misconduct.
According to the investor, Yamada Taihei, a Japanese national, allegedly misused his leadership position to embezzle funds and manipulate business operations for personal benefit. Investigations suggest that around USD 4 million may have been misappropriated through inflated real estate purchases, benefiting Yamada and his associates.
The complaints further allege that he bypassed shareholder authority, orchestrating fictitious loans totaling more than USD 7 million, using the names of well-known corporations to mislead investors, and forging official documents. Large sums of company funds were reportedly routed through shell companies and even transferred abroad to an account in the name of his wife, Ye Jun.
Authorities also indicate that Yamada Taihei established multiple shell companies across Cambodia, Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia, appointing nominees as figurehead representatives while retaining full control over their finances.
In Cambodia, he is currently facing at least two criminal cases, with court orders freezing his assets and bank accounts. Ongoing investigations are also reported in several countries, including China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United States, focusing on possible embezzlement, money laundering, and related offenses.
Through his letters to the Ministry of Justice, the investor urged Cambodian courts to conduct a thorough, unbiased investigation and ensure justice is served. The letters also highlighted concerns about potential interference by influential figures, which could threaten the integrity of the legal process, intimidate witnesses, or allow the accused to evade accountability.
